Action Figure Insider » FREE Download for a NEW #SuperPowers Fan-Made Mini-Comic!

There’s a lot to love about the new DC Comics Super Powers collection action figures from McFarlane Toys now hitting Walmarts in the US and mini-comics that come with each figure.

We can’t install action features on existing figures, but WE CAN help you with the other one of those “missing” ones by hosting the download of a great new Mini-Comic fanart written by Carlin Trammel (@nerdlunch on Twitter and Instagram) and illustrated by William S. Wiist that fits perfectly with the first 3 figures and vehicles in wave 1 of the new Super Powers line. Best of all, it’s free! Print it out and fold it according to the included instructions, enjoy it and add it to your collection.

Talking about creating this fun personal project, Carlin said:

One of the things about the original line that I have fond memories of was the inclusion of mini-comics during the first two waves. It was these mini-comics that launched me into collecting regular DC Comics titles because I used the form on the back to get a subscription.

I did not expect the new Super Powers figures to include mini-comics, but because of my love for them, I decided I had to make one myself. So, I teamed up with my artist friend William S. Wiist and together we created a 16-page mini-comic entirely in the retro/selling style of the originals.

This comic shows the entire first wave lineup (Superman, Batman, Darkseid, Supermobile, and Batwing). When we started working on it, the newer figures hadn’t been confirmed yet, so those characters are absent.

We at AFi are proud to be asked to host this fanart mini-comic download for all our fellow Super Powers fans to enjoy!

Carlin also put together a short video showing how to put the mini-comic together which you can see here after printing:

Daniel Pickett

AFi founder and editor-in-chief Daniel “Julius Marx” Pickett has been surrounded by toys his entire life. The first line he collected was Mego’s World’s Greatest Super Heroes line in the ’70s. He’s been surrounded by collectibles ever since. In 1999 he was confused by the lack of information and news about some of his favorite toy lines that he was collecting. Since he couldn’t find the information, he decided to search for it himself thinking that other people might also be interested in the same news. He began writing a weekly column on the toy industry and action figures for a toy news site and within a year he tripled the site’s daily traffic with his product updates, reviews and features. He built relationships with all the major toy manufacturers and many sculptors, painters, and mold makers. He grew his hobby into a worldwide experience that the industry has embraced. In 2004 he teamed up with fellow toymaker Jason “ToyOtter” Geyer and they created their own website www.ActionFigureInsider.com. Daniel has been quoted in both industry and mainstream media outlets. Over the years, Daniel and AFi have been sought after as experts in the field. Daniel appeared regularly on G4’s “Attack of the Show” as the main contributor to their “Mint On Card” segment, and our front page has been linked twice from USA Today’s “Pop Candy” blog. Daniel’s content has also appeared on Bloomberg News, MSNBC.com, Time.com, The Wall Street Journal, The Saturday Evening Post, CNN.com, AssociatedPress.com Wired.com, Fark.com, Boing-Boing, Gizmodo. com, Ain’t It Cool News, The Official Star Wars Blog, Geekologie, G4, CNet, and Toy Fare Magazine, among many others. He has consulted on toy lines, books, documentaries, and television shows. But all of that really does sound smug and “honking his own horn”; The bottom line is that Daniel loves toys and LOVES talking about them.
