Today’s smartphones have always been a great way to capture your memories, but sometimes these devices can run into issues that can hinder your experience. One such issue may be autofocus.
While it helps you autofocus and take a photo quickly, it can sometimes misfocus on the wrong subject and make the image blurrier in the wrong parts.
This can be especially important in low light scenarios or if you have an older device. If you have some out of focus photos or just photos in general that you’d like to brighten up, here’s how you can get started on your iPhone.

You can use the Photos app natively to try to lighten up your photos. However, if you need more finesse, we recommend using one of the third-party apps mentioned below.
Method 1: Use Apple Photos
Open the Photos app and then open the photo in question that you want to brighten.
Play Edit.
Scroll through the tools at the bottom to find Sharpness.
Adjust the same using the slider at the bottom.
Once you are satisfied with the result, switch to Definition and adjust the same according to your preferences.
Lastly, use noise reduction to reduce the noise in your photo that should have been a side effect of over-sharpening.
Play Done once you are satisfied with the result.

If Photos didn’t cut the cut for you, then we recommend trying using a third party application to make your images clearer. Use any of the options below depending on your preferences to help you with the process.
Method 2: Using Snapseed
Download and install Snapseed on your device using the link above. Once installed, open the app and tap +.
Now tap and select the photo in question that you want to brighten.
Play Instruments in the background.
touch and select Details.
Now use the slider at the top to adjust your Structure.
tap on the Options icon at the bottom.
Select Sharpness.
Adjust the Sharpness using the slider at the top of the screen.
tap on the check mark once you are satisfied with your settings.
Play Export. Now select and save your image using one of the options on your screen.
And this is how you can edit and lighten your image using Snapseed.
Method 3: Adobe Photoshop
Download and install Photoshop on your device using the link above. Once done, start the same and grant photoshop access your photos when prompted, based on your preferences.
Touch and select the photo you want to remove from the previews on your screen.
Play Settings in the background.
touch and select Details.
Now select Sharpness.
Use the slider at the top to adjust the sharpness to your preference.
Now select and adjust Shrink Lumia.
Once you’re satisfied with the results, tap the Discharge at the top to save the photo to your device.
And this is how you can lighten a photo using photoshop.
Method 4: Using Adobe Lightroom
Download and install Lightroom on your device using the link above. Once installed, launch the same and tap on the add photo icon.
Note: You’ll need to sign in to Adobe Lightroom if this is your first time using the app.
Touch and select the desired source.
Now grant access to light room When prompted.
Touch and select the Photo once Lightroom has access to it.
Play Add.
Play all photos on top. Now tap and select the photo you want to delete.
touch and select Detail in the background.
Now use the following available sliders to adjust your image and brighten details to your preference.
- Sharpness
- Radio
- Detail
- masking
Once you’re done, touch the Share icon.
Select export how.
Use the following options to adjust how you want to export your image.
- Type of file
- Dimensions
- image quality
- Filigree
You can also access the following export options by touching More options.
You can now adjust the following variables using the options on your screen.
- Camera and camera raw information
- location information
- Filename
- outlet sharpening
- color space
Go back and touch the check mark to save your changes.
The file will now be exported. Now you can use the Share Sheet to save or share your image as needed.
Method 5: Use PhotoLeap
Download and install PhotoLeap on your PC using the link above. Launch the same once downloaded, and touch the + icon at the bottom.
Grant access to your photos once prompted.
Touch and select the photo in question from the list on your screen.
Play Adjust in the background.
touch and select Sharpen.
Adjust the same using the slider on your screen.
tap on the check mark once you are satisfied with the results.
Similarly, adjust Penalty fee Y Structure if you have a premium subscription.
Once this is done, touch Export.
Adjust the export options available on your screen to your preferences.

Once you’re done, touch Export.
And that is! You will now have lightened your image using PhotoLeap on your device.
Method 6: Using Peachy
Download and install Peachy on your device using the link above. Once done, launch the app and tap Gallery.
Grant access to your photos when prompted based on your preferences. Now tap and select the image in question from the list on your screen.
While Peachy focuses primarily on body aesthetics, you can still use it to make your images clearer. Play Retouch in the background.
touch and select Details.
Use the slider at the top to adjust the sharpness of your image to your preference.
Once this is done, touch Noise.
Now use the slider to reduce the noise in your photo that will have crept in as a side effect of the increased sharpness.
Once you’re happy with the preview, tap the button check mark in the lower right corner.
Now touch the Discharge icon in the upper right corner.
The image will now be exported and you can now save or share it using the options available on your screen.
