How to Maximize Charging Speed on Your Samsung Phone with Bixby Routines

You can help your Samsung Galaxy charge faster by setting up a special Bixby routine. This is what you should do.

Today’s smartphones support faster and faster charging speeds, but some brands prioritize it more than others. We’ve already seen 120W+ charging on some Android phones, but Samsung only allows 45W on its S22 Ultra, while the mid-range Galaxy A series is limited to 25W.

Although that is not slow by any means, there is a way to maximize the charging speed on your Samsung phone with the help of Bixby Routines. Once set up, your phone will detect if it’s plugged in and automatically do whatever it takes to charge faster. Exciting, right? Let’s see how to do this.

How To Maximize Your Loading Speed With Bixby Routines

The way to increase charging speed is simply to reduce the amount of stress put on the battery, and the fastest way to do that is to (temporarily) stop power-hungry things. You can do this with Bixby Routines automatically.

If you don’t know or haven’t used the feature before, be sure to check out our full guide on how to set up Bixby routines on your Samsung phone for more information. Either way, follow these steps to get started:

  1. To go Settings > Advanced Features > Bixby Routines > Add Routine.
  2. tap on the Yes panel, then touch Charging Status > Charging > Ready. This allows Bixby to detect when your phone is charging so it can take action without you having to do anything manually.
  3. tap on the After panel, then enable these actions from the following menus:
    • Connections: turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, mobile data and mobile hotspot; turn on airplane mode
    • Display: enable dark mode, disable edge panels, set screen timeout to 15 seconds, and set motion smoothness to standard (60hz)
    • Location: disable location
    • Accounts and support: turn off auto sync
    • Drums: turn on power saving
  4. Play next, then give this routine a name and select its icon and color. Play Done to end.

Your routine is already established. Go ahead, connect your phone. After a while, when you unplug the charger and finish the routine, Bixby will reverse all these actions so you can use your phone normally again.

To maximize upload speed, enable the Limit apps and home screen toggle in power saving menu; doing so limits background activity and restricts all apps except the selected ones.

Just to be clear, this trick does not guarantee much faster loading. But if all conditions are ideal, you should cut at least five minutes for a full charge. Although it is not much, remember that these five minutes saved will add up with each charging session.

Protect your battery

Factors like the age of your phone, the efficiency of its processor, and temperature can also affect charging speed. Be sure to avoid wireless charging as it is very inefficient and try not to fully charge your device as that contributes to faster battery degradation.

To mitigate this degradation and preserve battery health longer, consider enabling Battery Protect. The Protect Battery feature limits the charge to 85%. To enable it, go to Settings > Battery and device care > Battery > More battery settings and activate protect battery.

Keep in mind that many of the actions you’re automating through Bixby Routines for faster charging can also be used to extend your phone’s battery life in general if it’s become problematic.

Increase charging speed on your Samsung phone

Fast charging is very convenient, but you won’t be able to take full advantage of it if your phone is running demanding programs and draining the battery in the meantime. Of course, it’s more efficient to turn off the device while it’s charging, but that’s not convenient.

With Bixby Routines, you can set your device to automatically turn off running programs as soon as you connect your phone. The less work your phone does while charging, the cooler it is and the faster it can receive and hold a charge.
