JoJo Siwa went for a casual look while going grocery shopping on Friday in Los Angeles.
The 19-year-old dancer, who appeared to reveal her former employer Nickelodeon’s response to her coming out as gay earlier in the week, stepped out in bright pink joggers and a black fleece jacket with pink embroidered JoJo.
The J Team star walked through the parking lot in black sneakers with rainbow-hued stripes.
She appeared without makeup and styled her blonde hair in one of her trademark high ponytails.
This was the first time the Blurt star was seen in public after lip syncing with Meghan Trainor’s mother on TikTok on Wednesday in a video explaining his experience with his boss after coming out as gay just over two years ago, that many of his fans interpreted. Like it was Nickelodeon.
‘Story time: January 2021, I go out into the world. The company I work for told me they needed a meeting with me as soon as possible,” Siwa wrote. ‘During this meeting, the PRESIDENT of the company negatively asked me “What are you going to say to your young demographic?”‘
JoJo did not name the company, though fans were quick to suggest it was Nickelodeon, where she had been working for several years since leaving Dance Moms.
“I took a second to process what I had just been asked, and then… I replied… “THE TRUTH.”
I had never seen a man roll his eyes so far into the back of his head. There was silence, so I started speaking again… I said, “I’m not going to hide who I am and who I love from anyone, ESPECIALLY the next generation.” He didn’t like that very much.
“However, ever since I came out, a lot of adults tell me, ‘I wish I had someone like you when I was younger.’ Which reminds me every time I did the right thing and never let ANYONE change who you are.
He added a caption below that read, “If that meeting was today I would literally hit play this song.”
A Nickelodeon spokesperson told Dailymail.com when asked for comment: “We don’t know which incident or meeting JoJo is referring to, but it certainly didn’t happen on Nickelodeon.”
“We have valued and supported JoJo since day one of our relationship and still do today.”
JoJo and Nickelodeon appear to have patched up any breakups that may have occurred.
The media company recently announced a Pride capsule collaboration with the Boomerang singer, due out in May.
A portion of the proceeds will go to GLSEN, an organization that “works to ensure that LGBTQ students can learn and grow in a school environment free from bullying and harassment” for grades K-12, according to its website.
