Nokia Mobile announces Nokia X30 5G, Nokia G60 5G, Nokia C31, Nokia T21 tablet and new accessories

Nokia Mobile hosted an event before the official start of the IFA2022 event where new smartphones, tablets and audio accessories were announced. The new Nokia devices are Nokia X30 5G, Nokia G60 5G, Nokia C31, Nokia T21 tablet, Nokia Portable speaker 2 and Nokia Clarity Earbuds 2 Pro. Nokia Mobile put a lot of focus on sustainable circular production processes and all of its new products and packaging are made from recycled materials. This means that all devices should be able to make their user happy for at least two years without any problem and then could be sold, restored or reused as material for the production of new devices. The new subscription service called Circular will ensure the sustainability of the new business direction that Nokia Mobile is taking.

Let’s find out about all the new Nokia devices and gadgets, starting with the best they have to offer at IFA2022.

nokia x30 5g

The most exciting newcomer is Nokia X30 5G, the next step in the X-series, a phone that finally brings AMOLED and OIS back to Nokia smartphones, efficient Snapdragon 695 5G processor, but with some hiccups like loss of power jack audio, MicroSD card slot and the iconic camera module located in the center. But overall, the X30 5G offers everything most of us want, a well-balanced mid-range phone with a great camera, a durable waterproof body (IP67 rating), and a nice display.

So the X30’s display is AMOLED, but it only has a 90Hz refresh rate, which should be enough for Android 12 graphics to run smoothly. The screen is protected by the Gorilla Glass Victus that we saw on the XR20, which is nice and should make your under-display fingerprint scanner scratch-free or scratch more slowly than with Gorilla Glass 5.

The most interesting thing about the X30 is definitely its main camera. It is encapsulated in a square module that is now simpler as it only houses main and UW sensors. The main camera has a 50MP AF sensor backed by optical image stabilization. Pixels can be connected to each other to create a brighter image by using pixel binning technology. The 13MP ultra-wide camera will also use the main camera to create better ultra-wide shots, which is also something new. The front camera isn’t as powerful as the X20, but the 16MP sensor also uses pixel binning technology and that should be enough to create good, well-lit photos.

The 4,200mAh battery should be enough to keep the device going for a day, and the 33W fast charge will ensure occasional quick top-ups. Nokia X30 5G should be available immediately in white and blue colors which look great. The price is set at €529 (which is similar in USD) and around 42,269.22 Indian rupees.

nokia g60 5g

While X30 might be the center of attention, Nokia G60 5G is also a good device with a capable SD695 5G processor, 50MP main camera, 2K LCD screen with 120Hz refresh rate, hybrid Nano SIM/MicroSD slot and connector. 3.5mm audio Interestingly enough, the G60 is a real improvement over the G50 and this device comes with Gorilla Glass 5, which means that the era of pre-applied screen protectors is long gone on the top segment of the G series.

Additionally, G60 5G comes with an IP52 rating, NFC, a side-mounted fingerprint reader, and a bunch of sensors just like on the X30. Its 4500mAh battery can be charged by 20W fast charging for 800 charging cycles without any problem or loss of capacity.

nokia c31

At first glance, Nokia C31 is just another entry-level device, but when you check the specs, it’s ready for the fight in the class of entry-level phones. You can get it with up to 128GB internal memory followed by 4GB RAM. The main camera with a 13 MP sensor should take decent photos that you can check on a 6.7-inch LCD screen with FHD+ resolution.

The phone comes with a hybrid MicroSD slot, a 3.5mm jack, a radio that requires a headset to work, a large 5050mAh battery charged with a 10W charging process, and all packed into an IP52-rated body that it comes in three colors. Nokia C31 is running Unisoc 9863A1 octa-core processor, which will perform well and ensure you have a decently rounded entry-level smartphone.

So is the Nokia C31 mint or cyan the question?

nokia t21 tablet

Nokia T20 was, and still is, a success. However, some hardware specifications needed to be corrected and Nokia Mobile seems to have been listening to its fans. Nokia T21 brings back a 2K screen and OZO Playback, but this time HD streaming is included, as well as support for the active pen (stylus) and a second screen for PC. This should increase the productivity factor of the new Nokia tablet.

Nokia Mobile still uses Unisoc processors and T21 comes with Unisoc T612 (2xA75 and 6xA55 1.8G). It has Bluetooth 5.0 and GPS with GLONASS and GALILEO, which is nice. The large 8200 mAh battery is still there to keep you going for days. The battery should last up to 800 charge cycles without experiencing any major issues, which is also the case with other Nokia devices.

The design is a bit more refined with that plastic top part that ensures a better antenna signal. However, the rest of the body is made from aluminium, meaning the T21 is just as durable as the T20 too. This tablet will be available in gray but in two variants, WiFi only and 4G variant with a price starting at €219.

audio accessories

Nokia Mobile is also bringing some nice green audio accessories. The new Nokia Portable Wireless Speaker 2 is waterproof (IPX7) and offers 22 hours of playback time through its 5W speakers. It has a built-in microphone for calls, a passive subwoofer, connects with your phone via Bluetooth 5.1 and can be connected with other speakers for stereo playback. The speaker will be available later this year in its eco-friendly box.

The Nokia Clarity Earbuds 2 Pro are a real improvement over the previous model. Nokia Mobile needed a stylish headset to replace the BH-805, which wasn’t that great. The new Clarity Earbuds Pro come with Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) for a noise-free listening experience and Ambient Mode for listening with ambient sound. There’s also environmental noise cancellation (ENC) which should make calls more understandable.

The best thing about this is the ability to quickly connect and stay connected on two devices simultaneously. Large 13mm neodymium drivers deliver rich, balanced sound for up to 28 hours on a charge from a 60mAh battery in the earbuds and an additional 500mAh battery hidden in the charging case. The buds are also IPX4 sweat and splash rated and I should mention that you can charge them wirelessly. Unfortunately, we will see them in the first month of 2023.

Circular

Nokia Mobile is also launching a new subscription program called Circular. This is a new subscription service focused on sustainability and keeping your device out of landfills. The longer you keep your device, the more credits you’ll receive to use for charitable initiatives and a variety of sustainability-focused causes. Subscribers should be free to eventually decide to return or replace their phone after an initial period of three months. They will then be able to choose from the latest Nokia devices including newly announced devices.

Circular will initially be available in the UK and Germany for the Nokia G60 5G, Nokia XR20 and Nokia T10. Nokia X30 5G and Nokia T21 will be added to the list when available. S Circular will also reach enterprises, where this service will provide the first truly sustainable subscription model for Android Enterprise. Subscription devices will be promptly replaced in the event of accidental damage, loss, or theft. A unique Circular subscription will be available to business customers in Q4 2022
