Tin City reopens in Naples with the 100th anniversary party

Tin City reopens in Naples with the 100th anniversary party. The iconic waterfront shopping and dining destination suffered service damage from Hurricane Ian. Then, as the recovery was picking up speed, a speeding car crashed into the building, again destroying many of the shops and businesses. While many businesses have been back for a couple of months, the official reopening was celebrated over the weekend, along with a huge anniversary party.

Tin City is the center of Naples on the Gordon River. It could be described as the seafront of Naples. You can see the colorful shops and restaurants across the river as you travel the Tamiami Trail. Tin City is named for its rustic tin buildings that were home to oyster processing businesses decades ago. It has that “old Florida” vibe. A rustic contrast to some of the fancy neighborhoods not far away.

Most dinners are casual and feature Florida fare. Plus, much of the shopping is geared toward the Florida lifestyle, like the tropical Christmas decorations pictured above. You can also take ferry rides along the river, as well as gulf and bay fishing charters, from boats that are docked at the Tin City Marina.

While most of Tin City is open again, four stores in the #. #1 are still under repair. However, the damage is not from Hurricane Ian. The destruction was caused on November 25, when a runaway car crashed into the building and caught fire.

Tin City reopens in Naples with the 100th anniversary party and it was quite a weekend celebration. It’s another positive sign of hurricane recovery in Southwest Florida just as we kick off the season again. Yes, hurricane season is officially back on. Make sure you’re ready this year.
