Adobe’s creative suite is one of the most popular on the planet. However, the fact that they are hugely popular does not mean that they are also free of problems.
In this article, we look at error 205 in Lightroom and Photoshop, what causes it, and what you can do to fix the problem.

Error code 205, in most cases, indicates a corrupt download. This can be due to a variety of reasons, including a spotty internet connection, overly aggressive antivirus or firewall software, or other external factors.
You can try the following five fixes.
Sign out of Creative Cloud
One of the first things you should try to do is sign out of the Creative Cloud suite and sign back in. All you have to do is open the Creative Cloud dashboard, click the hamburger menu icon in the top left, go to Aid and click Disconnect.
Once you’ve logged out, try logging back in and downloading Lightroom or Photoshop, and the 205 error should be resolved.
Rerun the download
As mentioned above, one of the main causes of this error is a corrupt download file. This can sometimes be resolved by simply downloading Lightroom or Photoshop from the Creative Cloud suite again. If you already have Lightroom or Photoshop installed on your PC, make sure to uninstall them before proceeding with the download.
Check your internet connection
Now is also a good time to check if your Internet connection is working as expected. If you’re on WiFi, check to see if you have an active internet connection and good signal strength. It’s also not bad to switch networks or try a wired connection.
Disable firewalls
If you have a third-party firewall on your system, it is quite possible that it is blocking downloads from Adobe’s servers, resulting in corrupted or incomplete download files. Try disabling third-party firewalls or allowing the Creative Cloud control panel to go through Windows Firewall to see if that resolves the 205 error.
If nothing else works, your best option is to contact Adobe and let them resolve the issue for you. Adobe Support can help you resolve any issue, whether it’s related to downloading or installing, or affecting the performance of the software on your PC.
